Obituary of Robert C Alderman

GREEN - Robert C. Alderman, 89, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at his home. Bob was born July 25, 1925 to John and Nellie (Asper) Alderman in Buchannon , WV where he was in a trucking and paint and body business with his father. He came to Akron to work for Goodyear Aerospace for 34 years, retiring in 1985 and had been a member of the VFW and Eagles clubs. He was also a veteran of the US Navy during WWII. Bob loved boating, fishing, hunting and fiberglass. He built his first boat (out of fiberglass) as a young man and it is still in use today. He used fiberglass like others use duct tape, repairing and restoring, willing more useful life out of almost anything. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Freda; Aunt Mildred (Woody) Post; brother Glen and sister Lois Jones; and is survived by his children Judy (Gary) Gill, Nancy Halter, Robert (Anne) Alderman and Karen (Kenny) Cooper; grandchildren Eric (Rachel) Gill, Kim (Scott) Humphries, Lisa and Jennifer Gill, Jeffrey and Dane (Lisa) Halter, Amanda (John) Young, Katie (Zach) Brott and Carly and Andrea Alderman; great grandchildren Emily Gill, Drew, Ella and Cate Humphries and Colson Halter. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Rd. (Corner of Steese and Massillon Roads, entrance off of Steese). Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
