Obituary of Stephen P. Vargo
Stephen P. Vargo, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Pebble Creek.
Steve was born October 31, 1932 to Stephen D. and Helen (Morrick) Vargo in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a computer operations manager for Lawsons/Dairy Mart for over 38 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Jednota Branch 553. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Theresa (McGrath); children Deborah (Dave) Breitenbach, Daniel (Kathy) Vargo and Stephen D. (Tracy) Vargo; brother Ronald (Karen); sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan and Ed Boles and sister-in-law Jean Vondemkamp; grandchildren Brian, Laurie, Daniel, Steve, Mark, Jon and Todd; and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his great granson Ryan Vargo.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 9, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2101 17th St SW, Akron, OH 44314. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or St. Jude Hospital.
