Obituary of George Ostrander

George (Bill) Ostrander, 98, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2019.
He is survived by his son WIlliam (Jill) Ostrander of Galena, OH; daughter Nancy (Robert) Rice of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Brady, Robyn, Sue, Jody, & Wendy; great-grandchildren Brianna, Allison, Gramm, Garrett, Gracie, Kelly, & Anya; step-daughter Shelly (Robert) Bartholomew of Coral Gables, FL; sister-in-law Dolly Ostrander, as well as many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Wootton Ostrander; son David Scott; second wife of 17 years Marjorie Wolfe Foltz; step-son Ronald Foltz.; siblings Chuck, Martha, & Frank.
Born April 6, 1921 in Cuyahoga Falls to the late Charles & Ruth Thompson Ostrander, George served in the Navy during WWII and worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. while completing a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Akron. He worked for Graybar Electric for 30 years until his retirement in the 1980's. He was active in the Masons and Toastmasters. He also enjoyed playing baseball & golf. He was inducted into the Akron Baseball Hall of Fame on May 7, 1995.
A graveside Committal of Ashes will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Alzheimers Association 23215 Commerce Park #300, Beachwood, OH 44122. (McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, FALLS)
