I also have many good memories of my “aunt” Sophia and the Szabat family.
She was always extremely kind,loving, and generous to me and my siblings.
She would always say to me that I should try and be like my father because he was a good man. Then she would tell me some anecdotal story about him or some prank he pulled and laugh that unmistakeable laugh of hers.
One story she told me that I especially remember was that whenever she or my mother were pregnant, she and my father would bet a bottle of whiskey on what the gender of the kids would be. She said she didn’t know how he did it, but he never lost.
She had a good long life and will be missed.
