Suzanne, Jon, Tom, my childhood friends.
I regret I am not able to be with you physically tomorrow as you say good bye to your mom, my neighbor-mom, Betty Schadl.
So many memories!
I was with you through many moments and I smile now as I think back on our childhood. Not always perfect by any measure, but what unity and strength we forged on Neptune Drive!
I thought and thought about how I could come home to Ohio to join you tomorrow and ultimately I am not able make the journey. However I will be with you in spirit and in mourning. I will be holding my own vigil in Kodiak Alaska while you celebrate the life and memory of your mother in Akron Ohio.
I send my love and my prayers to you and your families. I give each of you and your spouse and children a warm hug. It has been so long since I have seen all of you but forever hold you dear. All my love and sympathy. May you have a beautiful celebration of life and family tomorrow! Julie

Dear Suzanne,
So sorry for your loss. It's a strange feeling to lose one's parents, I found.
My mother had dementia in her last years, but her eventual passing away was still a marker and a shock.
My condolences to you and your family.

Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her vibrant spirit. She was a wonderful neighbor to my family for over 30 years. She supported my children's endeavors into their adolescent years. She even furnished us with our first computer and included lessons! My youngest daughter and Betty share a birthday. May we all possess her motivating force to seek out all kinds of adventures, no matter what your age. She touched so many lives and anyone who was lucky enough to meet her holds a small part of her BIG heart! It has been an honor and pleasure to of had your friendship and neighborly advice for so many years. May you rest in peace and God Bless!

Betty had an adventurous heart and was always learning something new. She was our neighbor and friend and we have many fond memories of hanging out in her backyard talking about life. She was such a strong woman and her tenacity after her recent health issues was tremendous. RIP Betty
