I am deeply saddened by the passing of my uncle Alex. He was an incredible man. Compassionate, intelligent, strong, determined and resourceful. I spent countless hours with him since childhood discussing topics such as history, philosophy, medicine, chemistry, science and classical music and art to name a few. He taught me the joy of learning and reading which changed my life. He was my academic role model. He had always wanted to become a physician and he imparted his love of science to me. He raised me like his son and I loved him like my father. He had a deep humility which permeated every aspect of his life which allowed him to interact with people of all backgrounds. I try to emulate his humility in my own life. His life was incredibly difficult but from it he developed a deep understanding of the world and a serene spirituality that touched all who knew him.
Whatever accomplishments I have achieved in my life are in large part due to the love and attention he showered on me throughout my childhood and adult life. I will miss the wonderful times I spent with him immensely and I pray that he is at peace with Aunty Cveta, grandma Maria and Grandpa Emil. The thought of him now brings tears to my eyes. God bless you uncle Alex I will remember you always.

Alex had such a brilliant light from deep within his heart. He personified gratitude and grace in adversity. I was fortunate to be an observer of his graciousness and sincerity. I thank him often for saying just the right thing to me that will be with me the remainder of my life. God bless his soul.

What a beautiful picture and a beautiful person. He truly embodied what matters in life. Family, faith and love. I loved his stories and how he enjoyed the culture of different countries, music, history, tradition, family and so much more! He will be missed so much but I know how happy he is now being reunited with his family and his beautiful wife, Cveta. I love you Alex, May you rest easy now.
