Obituary of James O. Griggy

James O. Griggy, 88, passed away Thursday, January 03, 2019 in Akron.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Rosemary; parents, Harry & Gladys Griggy; and sister Ruth Englehart. He is survived by his son James R. Griggy and brother & sister-in-law Gerald and Joyce Griggy.

James graduated from Rootstown High School in 1948. He joined the US Navy and then came back in 1958 to marry the love of his life, Rosemary Baker on May 10, 1958.  He drove for Lawson Dairy for many years and was a member of the Teamsters, at one point serving as a union steward.  He enjoyed keeping busy in his retirement by helping his cousin Donald Beltz with his businesses and other things. James attended St. Paul Catholic Church for many years. He was a wonderful husband and father.

Calling hours will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 6 at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron.  Funeral services will begin 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 44 University Ave, Akron OH 44308. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
