Obituary of Nicholas John Stevens

Nicholas J. Stevens, of Akron, Ohio, aged 72, passed on December 8, 2018. 

Nicholas was a graduate of Buchtel High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard. He served as an artillery instructor at Ft. Sill, OK and later was stationed in Ansbach, Germany. He was also a member of DAV. Nick retired from The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with over 40 years of service.

Nick was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Anna Stevens, in-laws, Paul and Mary Farkas, sister-in-law, Nancy Elias Stevens, brother-in-law, John Farkas, and sister-in-law, Janet Swartz Farkas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marcy (Farkas) Stevens; daughter Marcy Pardee (George), son, Nicholas J. Stevens, Jr., grandson Charles Pardee (Summer), granddaughter, Rachel Harris (Justin); great-granddaughter, Arizona Harris, brothers Peter Stevens, and James Stevens (Maria), brother-in-law, John Didyk (Maria) all of Akron, OH. and sister-in-law, Mary (Farkas) Papp (Frank) of Indian Land, SC. Nieces and nephews include David Farkas (Cecelia) of Marietta, GA, Gregory Stevens (Glenys) of Akron, OH, John Stevens (Ewelina) of Miami, FL, Celiaann Kulmala (Randy) of Stow, OH, Theodore Stevens (Michelle) of Akron, OH, Lela Hoskin (John) of Akron, OH, James Stevens, Jr. of Canton, OH, Ken Papp (Kristin) of Fairbanks, AK, and Gary Papp (Christina) of El Paso, TX. Additional family includes Mandy Denman and many cousins, and great nieces and nephews. 

The family thanks the doctors and nurses of Western Reserve Hospital and The Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center for their compassionate care.

Nick has requested that there will be no calling hours. A private ceremony for the family will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, with Pastor Priscilla Harris, of Healing Vine Ministries, officiating.
