Gary Parvin

Obituary of Gary Lee Parvin

It is with heavy hearts that his family announces the passing of Gary Parvin on September 28, 2018 in Akron, Ohio. Gary passed over peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family and listening to Willie Nelson. He was 74 years old.
Gary was born October 22, 1943 in Monahans, Texas while his dad, Mason Parvin, was serving in the US Air Force.
Gary was a gifted athlete especially in baseball and basketball where he was All- City in high school. He graduated from Akron Garfield in 1961. While he loved sports, he also enjoyed riding his Harley's. He worked at Firestone, the Crystal on Main St. and for 15 years on an oil rig off the coast of Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mason Parvin and Jean Erotas.
Gary is survived by the love of his life for 27 years, Nancy Sample, sister Cheryl (David) Childress, nieces Stacee (Bob) Mikolich, Valerie (Doug) Ambrose, grandnephews Jack and Sam Mikolich, Mason and Michael Ambrose and grandniece Ellie Ambrose. Also, by his many loving cousins and friends.
Gary made friends wherever he traveled. His laugh was special and contagious. When you heard his laugh, you knew "Lefty" Parvin was in the house and he laughed a lot!
To those that knew Gary well, you will not be surprised that he did not want calling hours or a funeral.
Special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Heart/Lung ICU floor at Akron Summa Hospital. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, AKRON)
