Obituary of Carl Edward Morlan
Carl left this earth peacefully on September 10, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 2, 1949 and was the third of 5 children to Paul and Myrtle Morlan. He is preceded in death by his father, his sister Ellen and his daughter Heather. Carl leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Lana; 94 year old mother, daughter Lisa Kane (Tom) all of who were by his side the entire week he was in hospice, brothers Sam (Lora) and Phil (Marsha), and sister Mary.
After, many high school dances and love letters to Lana, the two married in 1969. They had two beautiful daughters and enjoyed a journey together that was full of love and laughter. He was an amazing father who kept his family smiling and loved to joke around. When his girls were little he would tickle their backs every night until they would fall asleep.
Papa, as he was called by his beloved grandchildren; Devin, Sofia, Montana and Blake, lived his entire life in Kenmore, OH. He graduated from Kenmore HS and played on their football team. He then began his career at BF Goodrich as a rubber worker. After they were purchased by Michelin, Carl was asked to move and work in their Tuscaloosa, AL facility but declined because he didn’t want his daughters to have to leave their friends and high school here in Akron. Carl was then employed at Austin Parts & Service. He met many wonderful people along the way that he kept in touch with over the years.
Carl was a soft spoken, kind and genuine person that would help anyone that needed it, especially his family. He endured some very difficult times with the loss of his father at a young age and the death of his daughter, but never lost his smile and loving ways, and remained a pillar of strength through it all.
He was that “all around good guy”!
Carl enjoyed watching his Cleveland sports teams, music, and playing cards with his cousins and siblings; but without a doubt was his happiest when spending time with his family. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, taking them fishing and family cookouts.
Papa, we will miss you deeply. Your kind and caring ways will never be forgotten. God bless and know that we will keep you close in our hearts forever.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 14, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St. Akron OH 44301 where funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm.
