Obituary of Charles Dennis Juhasz

Charles D. Juhasz, 74, lost his battle with leukemia August 22, 2018 surrounded by his family.  He was born May 25, 1944 to Charles and Julia (Kohler) Juhasz in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life.   

 Charles (Chuck, Denny) lived a life full enough for three men.  Growing up on a farm, his chores were many but through hard work and dedication he was able to build his own derby car and participate in the All-American Soap Box Derby, make all City in both baseball and football, learned to play the accordion, pocket billiards, golf and held 4 Black Belts in Tae Kwon Do and 3 in Judo.  He graduated from Hower Vocational School, Joined the Navy and served on the USS Arcadia.  He graduated from the University of Akron and became a corporate expert on the Force Variation Machine and Tire Uniformity for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He formed the Polkatones that later evolved into the Velvet Touch Orchestra that delighted crowds for more than 30 years.  He owned and operated Pro Am Karate Studios, Diamond Billiards and Sea Jay’s Place bringing him great joy in fulfilling his passions of teaching and entertaining.  He was and avid golfer, bowler, walleye fisherman, semi pro 9 ball player, accordian player, composer, arranger, story teller and joke master.

 Charles is survived by his wife of 48 years, Christina (Falanga); daughters Christina D. Juhasz (John W. Brown) and Susanna (Jim) Pegoraro; grandchildren Zachary Charles and Nicholas Allan (Bestest Buddy Nicky Boy) Juhasz and Kourtney Fay and Hannah Jo Syrus.

 The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 5 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, where a funeral serivce will follow Sunday at 5:00pm.  Interment with Military Honors will take place Monday at 10:00 am at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery (please meet by the front gate at 9:45).
