Obituary of John Michael Mesko

John Mesko, 83, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on July 19, 2018.
Born in Akron on May 12, 1935 to the late John & Doris Mesko, John was a lifetime Akron resident. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. as a fireman after 35 years of service. He was a faithful member of the East Liberty Church of the Nazarene. John's passions were family, flea markets, and auctions. He was a member of the Firestone Park VFW Post 3383.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty; children Kim (Steve) Matheny, John, Andy (Cindy), & Tina Mesko; 9 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren; sister Elaine Stout.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, 9 am, at the East Liberty Church of the Nazarene, 700 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. in Green. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
