Obituary of Victor M. Pisano

Victor (Vito) M. Pisano of Akron passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 6, 2018 at the age of 98. He was born on May 22, 1920 in Buffalo, NY, to Anthony and Agnes Pisano and moved to Akron in 1946. The oldest of seven, he was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Margaret Rizzo, Ida Barone, Antoinette Albanese, and Salvatore Pisano; and his beloved dog Maggie. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary; daughters Agnes Testa (Vito) and Cathy Pisano; grandchildren Vito Testa Jr., Alisa Testa-Finelli (Joseph), and Nino Testa; great-granddaughter Serafina Finelli; sisters Rose Bellomo of Tonawanda, NY and Josephine Pecora of West Seneca, NY; and many nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank his home health aide Tricia Morgan and his neighbor Nancy Nave Baker, who cared for him in his final days.
A veteran of the US Army, Victor served in Germany, England, and France during World War II in the engineer combat battalion. During his service, his battalion crossed the Rhine River. He was a member of the VFW, Akron Post 3383. He retired with 37 years of service from BFGoodrich in 1983. After his retirement, he served as a Special Deputy Sheriff in Akron. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Akron. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus South Akron Council, #3410.
Victor loved Sunday dinners and Friday night card games with his family. He never missed a Cleveland Indians or Cavaliers game. He will be missed for his unique sense of humor and for being the family timekeeper.
The family will receive friends TODAY, 4-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Homes Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 930 am, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 83 Mosser Place in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
