Obituary of Donald Ray Lang

Donald Ray Lang, 88 passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

He was born in Akron and was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a 1948 graduate of North High School and went to Kent State for 2 years. He worked in the auto parts industry his entire life. He worked for Giant Auto Parts and retired in 1996. He continued working part-time until 2016. Mr. Lang was a member of Fairlawn Lutheran Church and a longtime member of the Akron Stroke Group. He really loved many of the NASCAR races across the United States

He was preceded in death by parents, Durward and Gladys; and son, Ray Donald. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty; daughter, Debra (Michael) Labay; brother, Jack (Shirley); grandchildren, Benjamin (Heather), Nicholas (Tiffany), Timothy (Jessy Estep) and Andrea Labay (Brandon Davis); great-grandchildren, Evan, Noah, Charlotte and Aidan Labay, Nadia Estep and Brantley Davis; and nephews, Randy and Roger Stewart.

Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44333. Rev. James Gau and Rev. Jack Kozak officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. The family will receive friends Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 and Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Special thank you to Brookdale Senior Living and Hospice Group for all of their care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church, Parkinson’s Support Group at Brookdale-Montrose, 100 Brookmont Rd. Akron, Ohio 44333 or to a charity of choice.
