Obituary of Joanne Skadra
Joanne Skadra (Pecko), 76, passed away peacefully Friday, May 11, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Born in Akron on February 7, 1942 to the late Joe & Ann Pecko, Joanne grew up living and loving the good life in Firestone Park. She attended St. John Elementary and St. Mary High School, and loved music, dancing & Rock'n'Roll in her youth. Joanne grew up at St. Paul Catholic Church and later attended St. Hilary Catholic Church. Her faith carried her throughout her life.
Joanne took great pride in her home and her work as a mother. She loved decorating for the holidays, cooking & baking. She volunteered as a leader for her children's Girl Scout troops and the 4H Club. She loved her garden and her animals, even breeding and raising horses for a time. She especially loved her dog Reese and cat Betty. Joanne's generosity and compassion defined her. She gave without counting the cost.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Bernie Prebynski and former in-laws Mary & Joseph Skadra. She is survived by her children Lisa Skadra, Joan (Dave) Peter, Mike (Mary) Skadra, Jenny Al-Jammal, Gary Skadra, & Ann Marie Skadra; siblings Jerry (Becky) Pecko, Sue (Jim) Ross, Joe (Kitty) Pecko, and Maureen (d. Bernie) Prebynski; grandchildren Luke, Jake, Davis, Ryan, Alina, Joe, Adam, Alyssa, Kristian, & Drayton; great-grandchildren Madison, Marshall, & Mya; as well as many nieces & nephews.
The family is grateful to the Life Care Center of Medina and Medina Hospital for their compassionate care of Joanne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 14 at St. Paul Catholic Church 1580 Brown St, Akron 44301, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Road #30, Twinsburg, OH 44087, One of a Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W Market St, Akron, OH 44313, or to St. Paul Catholic Church.
