Obituary of Earnest (Earnie) Schmeltzer

Earnest (Earnie) Schmeltzer, 84, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018. Earnie was born October 15, 1933 to Michael and Julia (Gross) Schmeltzer in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He attended Buchtel High School with the class of 1952. He was the owner operator of Schmeltzer Excavating for over 42 years retiring in 1995. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He was most known for his love of family and his generosity. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and golfing with family and friends. After his retirement he pursued his hobby of woodworking and he loved making things for others. His mission here has now been completed and he has left us all with blessed memories. Earnie was preceded in death by his daughter Candy Marrone and brother Julius; and is survived by his wife Janet Mottice; daughters Lynne Black and Sunny (Jon) Marrone; step children Mike (Kit) and Mark (Diane) Mottice, Vicki (Kevin) Fearon, Craig (Debbie) Mottice and Steve (Lisa) Mottice; 7 grandchildren and 18 Step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown OH 44685. A luncheon will follow the Mass with interment following at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Queen of Heaven Church Building Fund.
