He married Carole Edwards in 1959 and they were an inseparable couple. He cared for her during a lengthy illness. She preceded him in death as did his mother, Mary Stark Serdinak, his father, Joseph T. Serdinak, and his brother, James F. Serdinak. He and Carole were animal lovers and they were members of the Humane Society. Dick was also the founder and head of Portage Performance and ABC - Airplanes, Bicycles & Cars. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, Antique Motorcycle Club of America, American Muscle Car Association, Nifty Fifties Car Club of Northern Ohio, Performance Ford Club of America, Whizzer Club and Saint John's Catholic Church.
