Obituary of Carl Hubert Takacs

-CUYAHOGA FALLS Carl H. Takacs, 87, passed away on April 20, 2018. Born on May 11, 1930 in South Bend, IN, Carl had been a Cuyahoga Falls resident since 1958. He entered the Marine Corps in 1951, serving stateside during the Korean War. He graduated from Purdue University in 1958 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for General Tire for over 35 years, retiring as head of mechanical engineering. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls, where he was active in the Holy Name Society. More recently, he was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in the Falls. Carl was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #13517 and was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Edward J. McFadden Assembly 2953. Carl was one of the original organizers of the Cuyahoga Falls Oktoberfest. He volunteered designing and building sets for the Goodyear theater. Carl loved to travel. While working for General Tire, he traveled all over the world. He loved the beach and the ocean and loved to spend time in Texas with his family. He loved working around the house and enjoyed helping his family work on their homes. Carl was preceded in death by his wife Rose Mary (nee Gyuriak) in 2001; grandson Grant Curtis Gross; sisters Irma, Ella, & Rose and sister-in-law Stephanie (Gyuriak) Emmons. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Bowman-Takacs; his children Jon (Terri) Takacs & Anne (Charles) Takacs-Grieb; his step-children John (Michele) Bowman, Jeff Bowman, Joy (Steve) Gidley, Jack (Vikki) Bowman, Jennifer (Curt) Gross; grandchildren Taylor, Zak, Tyler, Tori, Allie, Alec, Jessi, Niki, Kaitlyn, Skylar, Angela, Taylor, Morgan, Luke, Jill, LeeAnn (McKeon), Richard, Andrea, Sarah, Christopher, & Bryant; great-grandchildren Kason, Karter, Jonathan, Vieva, Dane, Donovan, Atris, & Kyle; sisters-in-law Patricia (Gyuriak) Guy & Shirley (Gyuriak) Prekosovich, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 10 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment with full military honors will take place at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Carl and his family would sincerely appreciate a donation in his memory to Knights of Columbus Council #13517 c/o Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 1905 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
