Obituary of James Thomas Franklin
James T. Franklin, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center.
James was born November 9, 1930 to John and Harriet (Cardarelli) Franklin in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service most recently serving as Postmaster for Barberton. He was a member of the Mogadore VFW. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
James was a golfer. He held a PGA Pro Tour card and was known as 'The Pro' at his home course Maplecrest Golf Club where he was the teaching pro.
James is survived by his wife of 44 years Marytheresa (Takacs); daughter Denise (Vincent) DelMedico; grandchildren Dana (Zachary) Harty, James (Allison) DelMedico and Alex DelMedico; great grandchildren Natalie, Owen and Finnegan Harty and Sloane and Vinny DelMedico; siblings Rosemary (Jim) Kolton, Harriet (Larry) Bowers and Suzanne Seabeck; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Franklin.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10:00am at Little Flower Catholic Church, 2040 Diamond St NE, Canton, OH 44720. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Mogadore VFW.
