Obituary of Raymond Edward Whitby

MOGADORE, OH - Raymond E. Whitby, 88, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 in North Carolina. Ray was born on May 3, 1929 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, to the late Buck and Lillie Taylor Whitby. Ray retired from the US Army as a Command Sergeant Major after 22 years of service and settled in Mogadore. He worked as an administrator for General Tire. Ray was an active member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, longtime member of the Mogadore Lions Club, an avid golfer and runner. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Nada. He is survived by his children Raenada Leonard and Rano (Gretchen) Whitby; grandchildren Rachel, Zachary and Andrew; sisters Doris Ann Cooper and Martha Lassig. The family will receive friends Friday, February 9th from 5-7PM at Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron, with Parastas at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 11:30 AM at the St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, 2552 Pickle Road in Akron and interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery.
