Obituary of Eugene Edward Dettling

Eugene E. Dettling, 81, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center. Eugene was born November 16, 1936 to William and Elsie (Harpster) Dettling in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was employed by AT & T for over 40 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Eugene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne (Holloway); children Deborah (John) Pesa, David (Lorrie) Dettling, Jeffrey (Nikki) Dettling and Janice (Aaron) Potts; grandchildren Ryan Angerstien, Angela, Erica and Gabriella Pesa and Elizabeth Potts; siblings Mary Jane (Michael) Greenberg; William (Sue) Dettling, Patricia (John) Niekamp, Rosemarie (Richard) DelNostro, Michael (Patty, dec.) Dettling and David Dettling. The family will receive friends Friday 4 to 7 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron OH 44301. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 10:00 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 44 University Ave, Akron, OH 44308.
