My husband and I first met Miss D 32 years ago today when he was diagnosed with acute leukemia and entered Akron General. He was not expected to live through the first night and Miss D stayed with us and helped us process the horrific diagnosis we had just been given. We were so young and Miss D took care of us as if we were her children. She never left us, not even during our time at Cleveland Clinic. My husband lived another 14 months; and, Miss D was still with us in the end at the funeral home. I will be eternally grateful for her loving compassionate soul.
