Lucy McFadden

Obituary of Lucy McFadden

Lucy Taormina McFadden, 69, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Conneaut, Ohio, with her beloved husband and best-friend, Greg, at her side.

Lucy was born in Akron on December 21, 1947 to the late Joseph & Beatrice Taormina. She attended St. Paul Parish Grade School and was raised in the parish. Lucy graduated from Garfield High School and furthered her education at Gerber Beauty School. Following completion of her studies, she became a licensed cosmetologist and manager in the State of Ohio. During her career, she was well-known for her talent as a stylist, color expert, manager and beauty consultant. Lucy managed Works of Art salon in Akron for many years, before moving to Conneaut where she managed Top Performance Salon for John Montegnego and Betty Monday.

Lucy loved her kitties she affectionately named, "Tootsie Roll" and "Pooh Bear". She and Greg enjoyed spending time with friends at the O'Charlie's located in Erie, PA several times a month. Each visit was fun-filled and special for all. A truly kind person, Lucy could be trusted to tell you what you needed to hear, even if it was the last thing you wanted to hear. She was temperamental, but had a tender side—she was extremely generous to those she loved and cared for the vulnerable in her community. She had a great sense of style and fashion; loved music and had a great sense of humor. Lucy was a unique and genuine individual — the love she gave and the impact she made are immeasurable.

Lucy will be deeply missed by her husband of 21 years, Greg McFadden; son & daughter-in-law John and Gina Zazo; brother, Frank Sr. (Ethel) Taormina; grandchildren, Joseph, James, Marissa & Johnny; Uncle Elmer Plouri; special niece Denise (Jeffrey) Weese; nieces Christine (Jay) Curry & Marla Lynn Taormina; nephew, Frank II (Katie) Taormina; great-nieces Shelly & Allison and great-nephew, Jeffrey; along with extended family and many dear friends, especially Linda her mail carrier in Conneaut and Lois her realtor. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her devoted Aunt Theresa Plouri and Uncle Ralph Plouri.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 26 from 4-7PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St in Akron. Funeral services will begin at 7PM with Fr. Bill Hritsko officiating. Donations in Lucy's memory can be made to One of a Kind Pets, 1929 W Market St, Akron, OH 44313.
