Los Angeles, CA – Alleyne Shall (nee McKenzie), age 94, a long-time resident of Cuyahoga Falls, died peacefully in her sleep December 9, 2017 in Los Angeles.
Born September 27, 1923 in Fort Gay, WV, Alleyne was a graduate of Lawrence County High School in Louisa, KY. She moved to Akron in 1941 and married Clifford J. Shall on December 26, 1955 in Cuyahoga Falls. Alleyne was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cuyahoga Falls, the Cuyahoga Falls Women’s Club and numerous golf and bowling leagues in the greater Akron area. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, and was legendary for her buttercream sugar cookies at Christmas. Alleyne and Cliff always looked forward to their annual spring break vacation in Jekyll Island, GA with family and friends, and there is no doubt they are now playing a round of golf in the sky with Ed and Shirley, and Jack and Marie.
Alleyne was pre-deceased by her husband Clifford, parents John G. McKenzie and Rebecca Jane Rittenberry, and siblings Betty Jane Parker, Charles Ernest McKenzie, Nell McKenzie, Norman McKenzie, Alma Ruth Holt, Myrtle Young, Ethel Pauline Marple, Earl McKenzie and Homer McKenzie. She is survived by her son, David C. Shall, of Marina del Rey, CA, grandchildren Alexandra C. Shall of Eugene, OR, Jackson C. Shall of Salem, OR and Samantha C. Shall of Eugene, OR, former daughter-in-law Susan P. Corzilius, M.D. of Salem, OR, and many nieces and nephews spread throughout the country.
Alleyne will be interred in Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls at a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2220 Second Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.(McGowan-Reid & Santos, 330-928-1313)
