Obituary of Robert Jurkoshek

-CUYAHOGA FALLS Robert L. (Bob) Jurkoshek, 61, a lifetime resident of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully at Akron City Hospital on December 3, 2017, after a 2 year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob's outdoor Holiday Christmas decorations were truly legendary to anyone familiar with Cuyahoga Falls area. His home was featured on the Sugar Plum Christmas Tour and also highlighted in the 2012 Cuyahoga Falls Bicentennial History Book. An invite to his Christmas Eve Party was considered enviable. Bob's zest for life included golf, antique cars (especially Chryslers), trains, fireworks, movies, euchre and a good cigar. Above all Bob cherished his family and many friendships. St. Joseph Elementary, Cuyahoga Falls High (1975) and the University of Akron, encompassed his formal education. Retiring in 2008 after 32 years at Chrysler Twinsburg Stamping, Bob went on to enjoy a second successful career at Stellar Private Cable, where his colleagues recognized him twice for the MVP of the year award. He was a dedicated and loyal employee. Preceded in death by his parents, Albert J. and Mary Ellen Jurkoshek, and his brother Albert (Bud) Jurkoshek, Bob is survived by brother John (Jack) Jurkoshek, sisters Janet (Vince) LaQuidari, Ruth Stair, Teresa Jurkoshek (Jennifer Davis), childhood friend Eric Jones and the entire Jones family. Bob was the beloved uncle of John, Jill, Tricia, Shannon and Ellen. Our family wishes to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate care Bob received with a special thanks to Dr. Greg Manson, his team and the Infusion Nurses at Western Reserve Hospital. Our heartfelt appreciation to Rick Briggs and the Stellar Private Cable Group in their unwavering support. They became Bobs' second family. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 10, 2-5 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel 247 Stow Ave. (at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 11, 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Second St. in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Respectfully, at Bob's request please no flowers. Pancreatic cancer is the most underfunded area of cancer research and is known as the silent killer. Donations to Pancreatic Awareness at www.pancan.org becomes a living testimony to Bob and the fight to find the ultimate cure.
