Obituary of Viola May Werner
For 98 years Viola Werner reflected her joy of life, her sense of humor and her love of God and family to all around her. Viola passed away October 29, 2017. She was born in Lafayette, Indiana on October 28, 1919. She was married to the love of her life, Byron Werner for 73 years. Viola had many interests; She loved Christmas and made that holiday magically special the year round for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She and her late husband loved finding bargains at yard sales which resulted in numerous collections including wall pockets, egg cups and paper weights. She made beautiful cross stitch quilts for all of her family members. Viola was an excellent cook and served countless delicious meals to family and friends over the years, as she loved to entertain guests. Viola is survived by her four children, Barry (Fran), Lesley (Charlie), Sarah (Art), Jeanne, (Jim) and also an unofficially adopted daughter, Olive (Chris). She had 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 1 at her beloved church, Concordia Lutheran, 724 Sumner St., Akron from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by the service with Rev. Robert Tauscher Jr. officiating. The family is deeply grateful for the excellent, loving care Viola received at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman. Mom was always treated like family by every employee and volunteer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Concordia Lutheran Church. Bubba will be lovingly remembered for her kind nature, her very fun sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, Akron)
