Obituary of Richard James Pastoria
Richard James Pastoria went home to be with the Lord on October 26th 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pearl and Pat Pastoria and his daughter Patty Lou.
He graduated from Coventry highschool in 1951. He was a Marine stationed at Cherry Point North Carolina during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Goodyear with 37 years of service. From Goodyear he went to work at Wingfoot Lake Park and also was employed for 13 years as a maintenance man at Acme on Manchester Road.
He saw Betty at a gas station and as soon as he saw her he knew she was the girl he wanted to marry. They went out on a date two times and then married 5 days later on April 5th 1952. They recently just celebrated 65 years marriage. Dad was also a Sunday school teacher for 25 years at Akron Baptist Temple. He loved the Lord. He leaves on this earth until we meet him again, his wife Betty, sons Richard (Beth), Ron (Carolyn) Luke (Jennifer) and daughter Tracey ( Mark Holman). He also leaves his grandchildren Daniel (Lauren), Matthew, Joshua (Nikki), Jonathan, Jesse, Maxwell and Miles Pastoria. Jacob (Tiffany) and Benjamin Holman and Rachel and Errin Rucker; Great grandchildren Brooklynn, Hayden and Jesse Jr.
Dad loved to fish and do crafts with wood. He loved spaghetti and meatballs and watching Westerns. Our Christmases were always a big celebration along with our birthdays. He made sure of it. We feel honored and blessed to have had such a wonderful husband and father.
We would like to thank all of Dad's caregivers. We also would like to thank many of you for your comforting prayers. TREMENDOUS
The family will receive friends Monday 4 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron. Funeral service will be held Tuesday 12:00 pm (Noon) at the funeral home with Ernie Kempel and Dallas Billington officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Donations may be made to City Church AC, 3000 Krebs Dr., Akron, Ohio 44319 (Anthony AKRON)
