Obituary of Frank Scalero
Frank Scalero, 97, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Stow Glenn Retirement Center.
Frank was born March 6, 1920 to Rocco and Anna (Masiella) in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life. He played football and wrestled for North High School and was a veteran of the Army Air Corp during WWII. He earned nine Battle Stars for his participation Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples- Foggia , Rome -Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Northern Ardennes and Po Valley. He received a Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber with 42 years of service. He loved golf and played in many Goodyear National Industrial Golf Tournaments, winning championships in LaFayette, IN in 1965 and 1967.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Natalie (Semchuck); daughter Georgette (Richard) Kurty; sister Mary Cortesi; grandson Bryan White and son-in-law Richard White. He is survived by his daughter Karen White; brother Michael; granddaughter Shannon (Ray) Olsen; great grandson Van Richard Olsen; several nieces and nephews.
Per Frank's wishes a small private family ceremony will be held Saturday 11:30 am at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. (Anthony, AKRON)
