Obituary of Laurice Jayne Coy

Laurice J. (Simon) Coy, 96, passed away September 25, 2017, after a brief illness, at Akron City Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Laurice was born on Feb. 8, 1921 in Kenmore, raised in Lakewood, Ohio, and lived in Akron since 1947, where she and her late husband, Lloyd, raised their family. For many years she was active in her church, St. George Antiochian Orthodox, and very involved in the Akron Public Schools. She loved to golf with her husband and enjoyed being with her family. She was loved by many. She was a loving mother to Robert (Linda), Sharon, dear grandmother to Tracy (Sal), Bobby, Meredith (Ryan), Chris (Elizabeth), and Anthony (Kendra), and proud great-grandmother to Lindsay, Nicholas, Cassie, Anna, Abby, Adam, Valerie, Natalie, Leah, & Giuliana. She was also a dear aunt to many nieces & nephews. She is survived by her dear brother Richard (Ginny) Simon, and preceded in death by her parents the Rev. George & Marie Simon, and siblings, Jean, Leo, Olga, Raymond, Edward, & Donna. The family will receive friends Friday, 4-8 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a Trisagion will take place at 6pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10am, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
