Obituary of Vivian Beachy

Vivian A. Beachy (nee Alexandrovich), formerly of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. Mrs. Beachy was born August 20, 1932 in Duquesne, PA and grew up in Akron, OH. She graduated from The University of Akron with a BA in Education and taught elementary school for 10 years before starting a family and raising her three children. She later pursued a second career in banking where she worked until she retired. She was an avid reader and enjoyed family gatherings, attending church, spending time at the beach, and shopping. She was the beloved wife of the late Merle J. Beachy. Much loved daughter of Bessie and the late Taso Alexandrovich; devoted mother to Karin L. Beachy (Cort Gibson), Valerie L. Smith (Tom), Mark J. Beachy (Andrea); loving grandmother to David Beachy (Amy); Ashley, Nicole, and Lauren Beachy; Thomas B. Smith Jr (Shelby), and great-grandmother to Allison Beachy; Audrey and Ada Smith. Cherished sister of Archie Alexander, sister-in-law Natalie Alexander, and sister-in-law Mary Shipp; loving aunt to 6 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Her loving heart, gentle soul, and selfless nature will be our guiding compass and live in us forever. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 6, from 5-7pm, with Parastas service beginning at 7pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 7, at 11am at St. Elia the Prophet Orthodox Church, 64 W. Wilbeth Rd. Akron, OH 44301, with Very Rev. Fr. Don Anthony Freude officiating.
