Obituary of Michael George Novachek
Michael G. Novachek, 83, died on his birthday August 28, 2017.
Mike graduated from Hower High School and served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Mike joined the Akron Police Department in 1958, working on motorcycle patrol for over 10 years and retiring as detective in 1987. He enjoyed water skiing, bowling, woodworking, and polka dancing. He was a long-time member and volunteer at the Jednota Club Branch 553 and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7.
Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith (Kibler); children, Lynn (Roger) Fendenheim, Chelle (Paul) Calderone, Mike (Michele) Novachek, Joanne (Mark) Chapman, Kathleen (Jerry) Johnson; grandchildren, Audri (DJ) Cochran, Kellie (Jason) McIe, Erik (Mere) Fendenheim, Theresa (Brad) Harris, Suzie (Dave) Biggs, Paul and Chris Calderone, Michael Novachek, Amber (Travis) Lehman, and Daniel Johnson; six great grandchildren; sister, Helen Lizak; and preceded in death by grandson, Matthew Fendenheim and sister, Mary Mesko.
The family thanks VNS Hospice for the devoted care of our husband, father and grandfather.
Friends may call on family Friday, September 1, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko Anthony Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44301. Funeral services will begin Saturday, September 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and continue with the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, OH 44319.
