Obituary of Fred Lee Disque

Fred Lee Disque, Jr. was born December 15, 1929 to Fred and Bertie Lou Disque in Akron. Known as Bud to family, he passed away on August 21, 2017. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Garfield High School in 1948, where he played football. Fred served in the Army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Firestone from the age of 14. For most of his career, he was a computer programmer and systems analyst. After retirement, he worked as a contract programmer at GenCorp for several years. Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed building and flying radio control model airplanes, gardening, golf, and playing bridge. He was a lifelong member of the Akron Baptist Temple where he served as an usher and deacon. Fred is survived by his daughters and their husbands Debra and William Tsoufiou, Renee and Fred Zumpano; and grandchildren, Steven Tsoufiou, Michael and Michelle Zumpano. He also leaves a sister, Betty Brown, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Disque, and son, Martin Disque. The family is grateful to the staff of Concordia at Sumner for their excellent care. The family will receive friends Friday 5 to 8 pm and Saturday 10 to 11 am at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home, Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park.
