Obituary of Patricia Lou Scaglione
Pat Scaglione, 87, passed away on August 22, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Born in Logansport, Indiana , on March 21, 1930, to Lawrence and Catherine Cortie, she and her family moved in 1945 to Akron, Ohio, where she lived for the rest of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 48 years Anthony Scaglione, infant son Stephen Ratzer, and sisters and brothers-in-law Nora (Jim) Boyer, Rosalie (Ivan) Ager, and Dorothy Ann Cortie. She is survived by her children Bill (Elaine) Ratzer, Larry (Marla) Ratzer, Pam (Ralph) DiNicola, Joe (Becky) Scaglione, and John Scaglione. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren and their spouses Shannon Ratzer-Lubin (David Lubin) and Tony Ratzer; Kirstie Ratzer (Kevin Farley) and Jenny Ratzer (Eric First); Nicholas (Kathleen) DiNicola, Laura DiNicola and John DiNicola (Valerie Metzger); and Christy (Matt) Schalmo; and great grandchildren Wesley Goin, Colin DiNicola, and Adriana and Lucia Wilkerson. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, as well as special care-giver and friend Susie Vance and special family friends John Authenreith and Tom DiNicola.
Pat loved being Mom to her family and to their many friends throughout their school years and beyond, making sure her home was a safe and loving haven to all. She extended that welcoming attitude to her many customers and employees of Patony's Pizza, which she and Tony operated in the Ellet area for nearly 25 years. She was an avid crafter, with a special love of crocheting, an expert card player, and the Number One fan of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Green Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation and Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service for the attentive care they provided Pat during the past year. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.
