Obituary of Ann P. Contos

Anastasia (Ann) P. (Pappas) Contos, 75, passed away unexpectedly on August 5th 2017. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on September 9th, 1941 to the late Petros and Zoe Pappas. She was a 1959 graduate of Rayen High School. In 1963, Ann moved to Akron to marry her late husband of 49 years, Ross. She enjoyed working for the Springfield Local School system for many years. Making a difference in a child's life was not only her goal, but a God given talent. She enjoyed all of her grandchildren, whom were the light of her life. As a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fanatic, she tried her best to never miss a game. She loved to bake, cook and was always searching for new recipes to try. She was an avid reader with an extensive book collection. She loved communicating with family and friends through email, while making many new friends online as well. Whether it was laying out in the sun reading a book, playing cards, watching t.v., or getting together for a family gathering, most of all, she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband Ross, her brother Chris Ladas (Sue and daughter Julie), sister Georgia (Chuck) Zidian and brother-in-law William Williams. She is survived by her loving children; daughters Zoe Lapidakis and Nikki Contos of Akron; sons Stephen (Michele) Contos of Norton and Christopher (Michelle) Contos of Akron; grandchildren Malena (Chad), Anthony, Anastasia, Hunter, Nicholas, Tanner, and Emily, and great grandchildren Sophia, and Blake, as well as many relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 11th, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a trisagion will take place at 5pm. A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church 129 S. Union St. Akron, OH 44304, Where Ann will lie in state for 1 hour prior to the service. Fr.
