Obituary of Shirley Ann Kissner

Shirley Ann Kissner, 82, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.

Shirley was born October 25, 1934, in Akron to the late Earl and Beatrice Lauck. She worked as the first computer operator for Goodyear and retired after 38 years. After retirement, she was a volunteer and worked at Interval Brotherhood Home for nearly 25 years. Shirley was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she attended the weekly Holy Hour, participated and volunteered in many parish events, and served as a lector. An avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Shirley was an usher at Ohio Stadium for 15 years.

Shirley is survived by her children Edward (Rhonda) Kissner and Jackie (Bob) Berger; siblings Kenneth (Margaret) Lauck, Jackie (Bob) Jones and Linda (Denny) Fulk; grandchildren Mark (Melissa) Trew, Michael (Cole) Trew, Ryan Schmitt, Megan Kissner, Ashley Berger, & Brittany Berger; great-grandchildren Carter and Owen Trew; and dear friends Emily Meckes, Maryanne Osolin, Lelia Cheatam, and Dale Fox; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 6, from 5-8 PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, at 1990 S Main St in Akron, where a rosary will be said at 7:30PM. Funeral services will begin 10:30 AM Monday at the funeral home with prayers, followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 2100 16th St SW, Akron 44314, with Fr. Sam Ciccolini presiding. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Little Sisters of the Poor at 4200 Harewood Road N.E., Washington, D.C. 20017-1511.
