Obituary of James J. Martin

James J. Martin, passed away on July 23, 2017, at the age of 80. He was born in Akron and lived here most of his life. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps.serving from 1953 to 1957. He loved being a Marine, especially the time he spent in Panama’s jungle and would entertain family and friends with his stories. However, he loved his sweetheart Rose more and they married when he returned from service, and raised a family. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He retired from NRM Corporation as an electrician and machinist and later worked overseas in Kuwait training employees and building machines. Rose joined him there and they enjoyed meeting new friends and traveling to other countries before returning home. He volunteered at the Food Bank and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He enjoyed taking walks, often picking up odds and ends and crafting them into works of art.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing with the grandchildren.
