Obituary of Patricia Ann Given

Patricia Ann Given, 75 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. She was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Mrs. Given was a retired school teacher having taught at St. Joseph and Holy Family Schools. Patricia graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1959. She then attended Kent State University and received her degree in Education in 1964. She met her husband David in 1963 and they were married on June 26, 1965 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In 1991 she received the Award for Excellence as an Outstanding Teacher in Catholic Education from the Diocese of Cleveland. Patricia devoted her life to educating children, especially about the love of Jesus, for 37 years. She also volunteered at Haven of Rest Rescue Mission and Habitat for Humanity. Patricia enjoyed doing the Liturgy of the Word at Masses at Holy Family Church for the children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Estelle Watson; sister, Clara Watson; and great-niece, Clare Elizabeth Alznauer. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, David; daughter, Monica Given-Moffit; grandchildren, D.J. and Cameron Moffit; siblings, Joseph (Sheila) Watson, Cathy (Michael) Alznauer, Mary Ellen Watson and Barbara (Edward) Hollar; 7 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; many cousins; and former son-in-law, Dennis G. Moffit. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. (one block North of Portage Trail at 3rd St.) Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.
