Dear John,
I did not want to write a sad eulogy—so I waited a few days.
I will remember your generous smile,
your amazing courage,
your good humor.
I tried to think of another more enthusiastic,
more giving, more helpful…
I searched … and found no one.
You knew,
but never complained?
Just loved and waited!
You were at peace,
your family would be safe—bright kids, resourceful wife, and all of that…
“I know they’ll be fine, they’ll do great!”, you’d say.
That’s how I know you knew.
That’s how I’ll remember you,
at peace, happy, always giving…
