Obituary of Olen Craig Whitener

Olen Whitener died Saturday, May 6, 2017, just six weeks shy of his 97th birthday. His last days were spent surrounded by four generations of family. After his retirement from 32 years at Firestone, Olen worked at various Akron grocery stores. He was also a former member of Firestone Park Baptist Church. Olen was born in Hickory, NC in 1920. His wife of 71 years, Clarice still survives. He is predeceased by his beautiful daughter Rebecca Whitener Waak. Olen is also survived by daughters Toni Lowe & Judith Wille; grandchildren Rebecca Lanese, Benjamin Wille, Jennifer Bradley, Michael Lowe, & Olen Waak; great-grandchildren Chelsea, Vincent, & Nicholas Lanese and Brooklynn Lowe. Olen will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Thanks to Green Village Staff for the best and most thorough care possible.
