Obituary of Byron Lee Morris

Byron (Barney) Lee Morris, 72, passed away Wednesday May 3, 2017 at the VNS Hospice Care Center. Byron was born November 27, 1944 to Ermie and Louise (Betts) Morris in Seneca Twp., Ohio and had been an Akron resident most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War and served in Korea. He was employed by Pepsi Co. retiring in 1994 and Summit County Veterans Service Commission from 1997 to 2010. He was still actively serving as a VSC Commissioner. Byron was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3383 where he served as Past Commander and currently as Quartermaster. He was a member of American Legion Garfield post 566, Cooties and Amvets Post 176. In addition to his parents Byron is preceded in death by his wife Myra (Claus) in 1996; mother and father-in-law Lewis and Grace Claus, siblings Robert Morris, Sara (David) Lallathin and Kenneth Morris; sisters-in-law Darlene Smith and Linda Morris. He is survived by his daughter Brigette (Brian) Spidle of Green; siblings Betty (John) Crum of Cardington and Rodney Morris of Columbus; sisters-in-law Dorothy Morris of Barnesville, Linda Morris of Johnstown and Linda (Floyd) Crawford of Pickerington; many nieces, nephews, friends, and his grand dog Harley D. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 5 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron. Funeral Services will be held Monday 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Doyle officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. (AKRON)
