Obituary of Mary Jo Pitz
Mary Josephine Pitz (née Weinman) "Mary Jo", 79, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017. She was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and was a lifelong resident of Cuyahoga Falls and Akron. She was married for 55 years to Jerry Pitz, who preceded her in death. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and friend who will be dearly missed. She graduated from Saint Mary's High School in 1956. She later joined St. Anthony Parish in North Hill and became an active member for over 40 years. She volunteered in PTA, church fundraisers, school fundraisers and for anything she was asked. She later worked for Montgomery Ward's in Cuyahoga Falls for 18 years, and leaves behind many co-workers and friends with fond memories. In retirement, she loved painting ceramics at Quirk Cultural Center with her sisters and dear friends. Mary Jo was known by all as outgoing and friendly and always willing to help. She had a great smile and distinctive laugh that will be remembered by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; sisters, Eileen, Marcy, Karen, Jane, Charlotte and Alice; and brother, Jim. She is survived by her children, Diane (Robert) Kilivris, Katie (Ron) Santoro, Louise (Brett) Fritch and Jerry (Jennifer) Pitz; grandchildren, Patrick Swejk, Angela (Rob) Duraine, Ron (Stephanie) Santoro; Virginia and Cyrus Fritch, Emily and Aiden Pitz, Orion, Allen and Caide Hesseman; and great-grandchild, Abel Thomas. The family would like to thank Sunrise Assisted Living and Harbor Light Hospice for all their caring and support during her final days. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223. (PROCESSION WILL FORM AT THE CHURCH).
