Obituary of Theodore George Achimasi

Theodore (Ted) G. Achimasi was born December 11, 1936 and was named after President Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt. He passed away Sunday April 23, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Annie Achimasi, youngest son Ronald; sister Mary Anne Waller (Bob); brother Ronnie; mother and father-in-law Ruth and Steve Velka and his special sister-in-law Janet Marie. He worked as a builder of tire molds for Akron Standard Mold with over 40 years of service. He was a member of the United Steel Workers. He is survived by his loving and dear wife of 37 years, Dorothy (Velka); children Theodore Achimasi (Stacy) of Georgia, Kimberly Moledor (Randy) of Tallmadge and Michael Achimasi of Akron; stepchildren Christopher Brown (Julie), Stephanie Joyner (Guy) and Jason Velka (Beckie); grandchildren Anthony, Theodore, Shawn and Travis; step grandchildren Cameron, Alexandria, Justin and Nick; great grandchildren Kimberly, Timothy, Nathyn and Callah; nephew Mark Velka (Melinda); nieces Megan and Madison; long-time friend Kenny Neff along with special friends, the Klaus family. There was nothing better to Ted than to watch Ohio sports including his Buckeyes, Browns, University of Akron, Cavaliers and the Indians. He loved to go out to eat and have a "good steak" or travel to Amish country for breakfast. Every year, Ted would make the trip to Myrtle Beach and enjoyed the beaches along with the Joyner family! What great memories! You could find him on his deck feeding the birds and squirrels every day and how he loved his home, yard and great neighbors. The family is grateful to his longtime family physician and friend, Dr. Sue Meyer, his oncologist Dr. Trochelman and the Palliative and Hospice nurses at Summa Health Systems. The family will receive friends Thursday 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron OH and one half hour prior to the funeral service to be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 550 E. Wilbeth Rd., Akron, OH 44301 on Friday at 10:00 am. Rev. Mark Hanchett officiating. Interment at the Historic Tallmadge Cemetery on Tallmadge Circle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Lutheran Church. "From Home to Heaven's Garden, God's Peace goes with you."
