Obituary of Margaret L. Bachman

Our family lost our Aunt Marge on April 9, 2017 at the age of 103 and ½, because ½ counts when you make it that far per her great niece Tiffany. She was an amazing woman, a pillar of strength, love and stability, and yes even a little sassy! She was born Sept, 16, 1913 to George and Minnie (Weiland) Bischoff at the family home in Akron and christened Margaret Lilly Bischoff at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended Akron Public Schools including Leggett Elementary and South High School, and Actual Business School. Before beginning her secretarial career she worked as a housekeeper for Akron families (even serving morning coffee in a saucer to one family’s German Shepherd), and assembled books at Saalfield Publishing. Weeks Lumber in downtown Akron was her first secretarial job. She was at Goodyear Aircraft during WWII and from 1945 to 1977 at Firestone Tire & Rubber retiring from the Plant Security Department. She married Frank Bachman in 1952 after a long courtship. They remained married until his sudden death 1n 1974. She learned to drive and handle a home and finances, remaining in her home until just last year with help from family, special neighbor Jon and Mobile Meals. She moved to Concordia at Sumner Assisted Living and we wish to thank the nurses, staff and aides Maria and Judy and especially her favorite Korto, who could persuade her when we could not, and Rose who took care of her after she passed. We are grateful for your care and patience. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, and past member of Young Concordians and Firestone Prime Timers. Thank you Pastor Tauscher for your many home visits! She was preceded in death by parents; husband; sister, Ruth Moll Finelli; brother and sister-in-law, William and Elizabeth Bishop; and brother, Gene Graves. She is survived by sister-in-law, Anne Graves; nieces, Karen (Frank) Edwards, Barbara (Paul) Brinkman and Cheryl (Kevin) Shirey; nephews, David (Janet) Graves and Dean Graves; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and cousins, Violette Suster and Wanita Hillestad. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S.
