Obituary of Fred W. Klemp

Fred W. Klemp, III, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on March 12, 2017. Born on January 6, 1931, he was a lifelong resident of Portage Lakes. He will be remembered for his jokes (old & new, bad & good)and a pocketful of pink or peppermint candies. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Fred retired from the IUEC Local #45 after 30 years of service. After retirement, Fred and Dee enjoyed camping, playing bingo, and socializing at local clubs. He was a member of Lakeview Christian Church, Firestone VFW Post #3383(life member), Eagles Aerie #555, Army/Navy #250(life member), Sons of Herman Lodge #10, South Akron Orioles Nest #167, American Legion Post #449, and Moose Lodge #759. Preceded in death by his parents, brother & sister, he is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Delores 'Dee' (nee Pearson, O'Grady); his children Becky (Tom) Miller, Fred IV (Marcia), Mike (Gail), Rick (Tina), Liz Hutchison, Ginny (Craig) Texter, Carrie (Steve) Oliver, as well as 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of those who stopped by, brought food, called, sent cards, and kept Fred in their prayers. Thanks also to Clearpath Home Care & Hospice Care for the kindness & compassion given to Fred in his final days. Special thanks also to Rev. Darryl Moulder for his many visits & prayers A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 18, 11 am, at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Firestone VFW Post 3383 Relief Fund 690 W Waterloo Rd, Akron, OH 44314.
