Obituary of Betty Jane Blasdel

Betty and Ken are together again! Betty J. Blasdel, 95, of Clinton, Oh, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Surrounded by family and wrapped in love, she was reunited in Heaven with her husband, Kenneth C. Blasdel who passed away January 2005. Betty was born November 17, 1921 and was adopted by the late Della Garrett Griffith. She was an only child and grew up in Barberton where she was so proud of graduating from Barberton HS in the Class of 1940. She met her true love, our Dad, at a roller rink and they fell in love and married February 14, 1942. Betty gave birth to ten children, 7 sons and 3 daughters! They are Constance (Denny) Lambert of TN; Kenneth (the late Connie) Blasdel of Uniontown OH; Janet Blasdel who passed away March 2014; David Blasdel, Stephen Blasdel, Michael (Faith) Blasdel, Akron OH; Regina (John) McGraw, WV; Patrick (the late Pam) Blasdel who passed away October 2015, Matthew Blasdel and Christopher Blasdel, Clinton OH. Betty was the Grandmother of 16, with grandson Nathaniel Blasdel preceding her in death. What a reunion they will have! She also has 19 great grandchildren who will be raised to carry on her legacy of faith, love, and hope! Betty was a devout Catholic and was proud to send her children to Catholic school. She was Mother of the Year for her charitable work raising funds for special needs children because of her dedication to son David. Betty enjoyed music and dancing and loved her TV shows, especially Mother Angelica. She was a beautiful woman and was a "real lady" who practiced what she preached and didn't mince words. The family will receive family and friends at Kucko Anthony Kertesz Funeral home, 1990 S Main St, Akron, OH 44301 on Friday, March 3rd from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 am at the funeral home on March 4th with a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine's, Barberton, OH. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Waterloo Road. A celebration of Betty's life will follow at the funeral home.
