Obituary of Sawyer James Bender

Sawyer James Bender was born on August 9th 2016 and gained his angel wings on January 30th 2017. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Gary A. Baker and survived by his loving parents Casey and Jennifer Bender and big brother Samual Allen. He was also very loved by many people including grandparents Larry(Kim)Bender, Kathy(Mike) Elseg, Michaelle Baker and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Sawyer was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect as well as DiGeorge Syndrome shortly after birth. Despite all of his obstacles he fought a very hard battle and was always smiling. Even though his time with us was short he made every moment memorable. He had the biggest smile that would light the whole room up. He loved to snuggle his racoon and you could always find his dinosaur blanket over him or close by. We would like to extend a very warm thank you to the staff in the NICU/ PICU at Akron Children's Hospital for taking such good care of our angel. I'd like to specifically thank Elizabeth, Angela, Mary and Josephine for going above and beyond the job for him and all the doctors who tried their everything to save him in his final days. You will all hold a very special place in our hearts. We would like to invite you to join us for a time of remembrance at 4673 Buhl BLVD Uniontown,OH 44685 at 3 o'clock on Thursday February 2nd. Calling hours will be held at Anthony and Sons Funeral Home located at 4178 Massillon Rd. Uniontown, OH 44685 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with services by Pastor Ryan followed directly after. We ask that in lieu of flower donations we'd like monetary donations to help with costs we've incurred during these hard times.
