Obituary of Napoleon Fano Caruso

Jackson Twp. - Napoleon F. "Nolan" Caruso, 88, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his home 4 days shy of his 89th Birthday. Nolan was born January 25, 1928 to Gennaro and Antonia (Amedeo) Caruso in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was the owner of Caruso's Flooring Center. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Golden Tees Golf Group and the Shipyard Men's Golf Club in Hilton Head, SC. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. Nolan is survived by his beloved wife, June ( Rogel); children Denise (Christopher) Scala and James (Carrie) Caruso; grandchildren Celina Scala, Nicholas (Cassidy) Scala, Mario Napoleon (Jamie) Caruso and Malena Caruso; great granddaughter Hannah Grace Caruso; brother-in-law Frank (Ruth) Rogel; sister-in-law Corrine Fletcher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Hodnichak and brother Epifano (Jerry) Caruso. Nolan's first love was spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed a good party, dancing the night away, a game of golf, cooking something Italian, an old western movie, and a glass of "Cutty". He was always happy to meet a new friend! The family is grateful to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service especially Gloria, Byron, Raven and Debbie. The family will receive friends Thursday 4 to 8 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Rd. (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green. Entrance off of Steese Rd.). Funeral services will be held Friday 10:15 am at the funeral home and 11:00am St. Michael Catholic Church, 3430 St Michaels Blvd NW, Canton, OH 44718. Internment Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Donations may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333 or NICU General Fund @ Akron Children's Hospital, ATTN: Foundation, 1 Perkins Square, Akron, OH 44308-1062.
