Obituary of William Louis Kippes

William L. Kippes, 82, died peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in Akron on April 19, 1933 to the late John and Susan Kippes, William was a lifelong area resident. He married the love of his life Barbara Boehme in 1955. He worked as a machinist for nearly 40 years at Karg Corporation. A proud Navy veteran, William served on the USS Lenawee during the Korean War as a 1st Gunner’s Mate and drove a landing craft during the war. He enjoyed building RC model planes, gardening and going to the rifle range. William loved his grandkids and also his many cats, especially Patches & Butchie. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church. William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; children Michael, Cynthia (Gregory) LaFlame, Sandra (Jeffrey) McCausland, & Brenda (Michael) Kozlowski; grandchildren Kent, Christopher, Melanie, Alan, Caitlyn, Tarah, & Kristen; as well as many loving nieces, nephews & other relatives. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 6, from 5 to 8 PM at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Steese and Massillon Roads in Green, entrance is off of Steese). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church 1580 Brown Street in Akron, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following.
