Obituary of Christopher Joseph DiSpina

Christopher Joseph DiSpina, 45, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 while surrounded by his family & friends at Akron City Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Akron on April 23, 1970 to Ron & Carole DiSpina, Chris was a lifelong area resident. He married Christine Frient in 1996, together raising two wonderful sons, Joseph and Vincent. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. A musician at heart, Chris loved to play the drums. His sense of humor and wit could make even the surliest miser smile. Chris was a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Chris is survived by his loving wife, Chrissy; sons Joey & Vince; parents Ron & Carole; in-laws John & Judy Frient; sisters Stacey Kapper and Angela (Anthony) Shumate; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, family and close friends. Calling hours will be held Sunday December 13 from 2 to 6 PM at the Anthony and Son, 4178 Massillon, in Green (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads. Entrance is off of Steese). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 14 at 11 AM at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Meyersville Road in Akron. Private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a trust has been established for Chris's sons, and donations may be made to the Di Spina Family Benevolent Fund at any FirstMerit Bank location.
