Obituary of Santino Smiroldo

Santino Smiroldo, 67, died peacefully Sunday, November 29, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Sicily to the late Agatino & Domenica Smiroldo, Santino came to the U.S. in 1970. He married the love of his life, Santina Spina, and together they made their home in Akron. Santino was a Volvo specialist, and worked for several dealerships before opening his own successful auto shop in 1984. Santino's Foreign Car Service masterfully repaired cars in the Akron for 27 years before closing in 2011 when Santi retired. He was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales. Most of all, Santino was a loving husband, father & grandpa. In addition to his parents, Santino was preceded in death by his grandson Peanut Marcin; sister Elvira Smiroldo and brother-in-law Attilio Spina. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Santina; daughters Sabina (William) Clark & Linda Smiroldo; grandchildren Dakota & Zachary Marcin; sister Carmela Smiroldo of Italy; sisters-in-law Claudia Spina & Provvidenza Spina; nephews Anthony (Brooke) & Mario (Jami) Spina; as well as numerous cousins and close friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 2nd, from 4-8 PM at the Anthony & Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road, in Green (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads. Entrance is off of Steese). Funeral services will begin 9:15 AM Thursday at the funeral home with prayers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road in Akron.
